Contact Your Legislator

You can help Anchorage and the statewide Aquatics Community by contacting your legislators and asking them to appropriate funds to match the Anchorage Pool Bond. You and your friends had your kids learn to swim so that they would be safe around water. This is not just for competitive swimmers, this is a real issue of public safety. Pools save lives and fewer pools save fewer lives.

Legislators pay the most attention to phone calls, then letters, then faxes, then emails addressed to them individually, and then to emails with many addresses. The next page lists all of the legislators. You can click on your legislator and an email screen will come up. The subject line will be filled in so that they can easily count the messages. It will be automatically copied to the Office of the Governor so that she sees there is statewide support.  It will also be copied to Pete Crosby so that he can track how we are doing, count the statewide support by town, and, if necessary, ask supporters to send another, last minute message or print out all the messages and mail them to the Governor. You can delete Pete if you want.

We ask you to put your name and town in first and then whatever message you want, however brief, showing support for the appropriation of matching funds. If you are at a loss for words, you can cut and paste message below into your email. And then send it. Do one to each of your Representatives and Senator. Each adult should send their own email, numbers are important.

Sample Message:

Your Name - Your Town

I support the State of Alaska appropriating funds to match the $2 million Anchorage Pool Repair Bond. Pools are important to the safety and health of all Alaskans.

If you have the time, send each of them a note by regular mail, too. They get surprisingly few. If you want to make sure who your representative is, check here.
